Creating a bulleted list in the CHILI BackOffice Editor is as simple as creating or updating a paragraph style. In fact, that’s exactly what you’ll need to do to allow your users to create a bulleted list in their Tempo templates.
Defining a Paragraph Style for Bulleted Lists
To create a repeatable bulleted list style in your template, navigate to the Styles tab in the CHILI BackOffice Editor and follow the following steps:
- Open the Paragraph Styles and Paragraph Styles Settings dropdowns.
- Under Paragraph Styles choose the existing paragraph style that needs bullets or create a new style based on your needs.
- In the Paragraph Styles Settings section, navigate to the Indents tab. Here you will see an empty dropdown and an Active checkbox.
- Click the dropdown and select 1 and toggle the Active checkbox.
- You will now see the option to set which character you would like for your bullet as well as the capability to set your indent and left margin distances. Your bullet can be any number, character, or glyph your font supports.
- Input your bullet style into the Bullet box.
- Repeat steps 4 and 5 for each number option in the dropdown list.
- Each option corresponds to the bullet indent. For example, option 1 is your main bullet, option 2 is a sub-bullet, and so on.
Apply the appropriate paragraph style to the text you would like to contain your bullets and set your Lock Content frame constraint to No. Read this article for more information on creating an Editable Inline Text Frame.
NOTE: If you have a variable applied to this text box, the variable will override your ability to add bullets. The frame must be free of variables and have open frame constraints.
