Editing with the Inline Text Tool (Tempo)

Modified on Tue, 17 Dec at 2:37 PM

Using Tempo’s Inline Text Tool allows your end users to interact with the text within your frames in a way they may be more familiar with. By opening the frame constraints to create editable inline text fields, you can enable your end users to choose their font color, font style, and even add a bulleted list.

What is the Inline Text Tool?

Tempo’s Inline Text Tool is an innovative solution for rich text editing.

In other words, Tempo’s Inline Text Tool will only show the brand fonts and brand colors you have assigned to each individual template! For example, if you have one template with three fonts and two brand colors assigned in your Text and Styles panels, those will be the only options your end user will see for that template. Whereas if you have another template with three fonts and eight brand colors, those additional colors will only be available in that template. This ensures brand consistency across the board.

Using the Inline Text Tool

To use the Inline Text Tool, open the frame constraints to create editable inline text fields in the CHILI BackOffice Editor rather than assigning a text variable.

Once you have done this, you will create your template following the same process for all other templates.

When an end user selects Create Publication in Tempo, they can edit text directly within the text frames that you've made available to them. To do so, they simply click inside the text frame they wish to edit. A text cursor will appear, allowing them to type directly into the field. The Inline Text Tool will appear to allow them to adjust text size, fonts, font styles, alignments, text colors, and add bullet points—similar to the experience of using a standard text editor.

Your end user will only see fonts and colors you have made available for that specific template.

Once they have finalized all their changes, your end user can click the Publish button, rename their file, choose their output file type, generate their output, and download or share their final publication.
