Two-Factor Authentication

Modified on Tue, 18 Jun at 3:15 PM

As you've probably experienced with other cloud-based applications, two-factor authentication works as an extra step in the login process, an additional layer of security, to ensure you are the only one who can log in to your account. Its purpose is to make attackers' life harder and reduce fraud risks.

If your organization requires this extra level of security with your use of DivvyHQ, we have made adding this process fairly easy and straightforward with an authentication app.

An authentication app has the advantage of not needing to rely on your mobile carrier; codes are sent to your phone based on this shared secret and the current time. Codes expire quickly, usually after 30 or 60 seconds. Since an authentication app doesn't need your carrier to transmit codes, they will stay with the app even if a hacker manages to move your number to a new phone. An authentication app also works when you don't have cell service, another bonus!

Enabling 2-Factor Authentication in DivvyHQ

Log into your DivvyHQ account, go to your My Profile interface, scroll down to the Security section and click the big blue button.

You will be prompted to scan a QR code using an authenticator app.

Note: You can find a free authenticator app by searching the app store on your Android or iOS device. Once the app generates the code, it will expire and change within 30-60 seconds, so make sure you are ready to type in the code once it is populated.  You will then be automatically logged out to reenter your email and password plus, your new authentication code.

To Delete Two Factor Authentication:

Simply go back to My Profile, and scroll down to select "Configure Two-Factor Authentication".

After that, you will be prompted to enter your DivvyHQ password and you will be able to click "Disable Two-Factor Authentication"
