How to Edit a Template in Lytho

In Create and Publish, open the Templates page and click the actions menu in the bottom right corner of the appropriate template. Select “Edit template settings.”

Lytho’s template settings consist of 4 tabs, each with its own information and configuration options:

  • General
    • A template can be given a name, description, and tags to help clarify its purpose and findability in Lytho.
  • Input
    • A Lytho template source is an InDesign file. These files can be uploaded to your Lytho environment using the Lytho plugin for InDesign. After uploading, you can select the correct InDesign file under the Input tab. You can search for the file name or check the previews to find the correct file for your template.
  • Fields
    • Template fields are defined in its source file in InDesign via the Lytho plugin. In Lytho the fields can be configured as a text, rich text, or asset field. Field settings also provide a way to set default text in a text field or a default asset in an asset field. And there is an option to hide a template field for end-users using the checkbox.
  • Output
    • Templates can be used to generate different kinds of output. With the output settings, you can configure which file types will be displayed after a publication has been generated with a specific template. You can choose jpeg, png, EPS and pdf files. With the png output, the PPI (pixels per inch) can be set to create the desired quality. The pdf output can be formatted with standard InDesign job-options like High-Quality Print, Lowest File Size, and PDF/X-4:2008. These job options may be meaningless to your Lytho users, so you can set a user-friendly display name for each output type.
